TruGolf APOGEE launch monitor is a new, camera-based, user-friendly, high-end launch wwamonitor.
Is the TruGolf APOGEE launch monitor the cream of the crop of overhead mounted units? The name itself, APOGEE, might lead you to believe so; after all, the word apogee is defined as “the highest point in the development of something.”
But how does it compare in price, data parameters, setup and so on, to other popular overhead launch monitors such as Foresight Sports GCHawk, Uneekor EYE XO (and EYE XO2) and Uneekor QED?
We’ll go through some of the key details below.
WHAT IS THE APOGEE LAUNCH MONITOR?
TruGolf is most well known for its proprietary E6 golf simulator software, but with the invention of the user-friendly APOGEE, it adds a high-end launch monitor to pair with its top notch software.
The APOGEE is a camera-based launch monitor that mounts centrally overhead and in front of the tee area. It comes with the E6 Connect Practice license, which can be upgraded to include course play, but cannot be used with other golf simulator software at this time.
Unlike some of its competitors in the launch monitor market, TruGolf APOGEE does not require marked balls or club stickers to provide data thanks to algorithms the company calls “Instant Impact.” With an onboard processor, users will have a lag-free game experience with no delay between shot and simulated flight.
TOP APOGEE FEATURES
Some other key APOGEE golf simulator features include:
-
APOGEE Control Center: The ACC provides high-level and user-friendly device management tools, including a diagnostic dashboard, an automated self-calibration procedure, and innovative troubleshooting ideas.
-
Laser Indicator: Instead of guessing where your hitting zone is, APOGEE will project a slick 8-inch-by-10-inch laser “Tee Box” to show users where they need to place their ball for the next shot. The laser box will disappear once the unit sees the ball in the hitting area, minimizing distractions around the ball as the user is ready to hit. This also helps take away wasted time with do-overs and missed shots.
-
Processing Power: APOGEE provides enough power for E6 Connect to run smooth and fast.
-
Made in the USA: Designed, made and tested in the United States. Also comes with a bezel for protection and a replaceable faceplate.
-
Voice Commands: Just like your Amazon Alexa or Google Homes, APOGEE can understand what you’re saying. Say “Hey APOGEE!” to move around different gameplay settings inside E6 Connect. Golf more efficiently and save time from having to continuously walk over to your computer to adjust settings. You can even ask APOGEE to help you read a putt or tee it up again after your first shot goes for a swim.
-
E6 Connect: Contains more than 90 world-class golf courses, four driving ranges, 13 short-game ranges, 16 mini-games, eight modes of play, unlimited player profiles and online stat tracking, plus league management tools.
APOGEE SPACE REQUIREMENTS
It is required that TruGolf APOGEE is mounted 21-25 inches in front of the tee position, and 9-10 feet off of the ground.
For reference, the Uneekor EYE XO sensor also has to be mounted 9-10 feet off the ground, but 42 inches in front of the hitting area. So, the APOGEE is mounted closer to the hitting area, nearly directly overhead.
APOGEE DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
The APOGEE measures 38 inches in width, 5.5 inches in height and 8 inches in depth. It weighs about 22 pounds.
In comparison, the Uneekor EYE XO is 31 inches wide, 2.4 inches high and 6 inches deep. The Uneekor EYE XO2 is 36.3 inches wide, 2.5 inches high and 5.9 inches deep.
APOGEE MINIMUM COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS
Per TruGolf, APOGEE requires the following PC specifications:
-
Intel i5 Processor
-
8GB RAM
-
Nvidia 1070
-
25GB of Hard Drive Space
-
Windows 10 64-Bit
-
Internet Connection
HOW MUCH DOES APOGEE COST?

Every APOGEE unit includes an Extended 18-Month Limited Manufacturer’s Warranty, providing coverage for repair and replacement expenses resulting from any manufacturing or material defects.
WHAT DOES THE APOGEE LAUNCH MONITOR MEASURE?
Using a new host of algorithms called “Instant Impact,” the APOGEE launch monitor will measure the following ball and club data parameters:
Similar to Uneekor’s overhead mounted launch monitors, the APOGEE will provide “Point of Impact” video. Users can review the video from above of their club in slow motion as it impacts the ball: slow it down, scrub it, play it back and show it off (or don’t).
HOW ACCURATE IS APOGEE LAUNCH MONITOR?
We plan to conduct testing to see how the APOGEE stacks up against some of its competitors, and maybe even how it does against real distances on the range.
