Uneekor EYE XR Review: Clean Setup, Serious Data, No Marked Balls or Club Stickers

Although sleekly designed, the Uneekor EYE XR isn’t the flashiest overhead launch monitor. But it is a budget friendly rear-mounted launch monitor that quietly and consistently delivers important data without a bunch of setup headaches.

Let’s break down why it might be a fit for your setup.

Where Does The Uneekor EYE XR Mount?

Similar to the Uneekor QED, the EYE XR mounts approximately 3.5 feet behind the hitting area, keeping your space clean and open. It’s compact, low-profile, and doesn’t get in your line of sight or your swing path.

If you’ve ever been concerned at the idea of smashing a ceiling-mounted unit with a floppy wedge shot, a rear-mounted setup is a nice, built-in safety feature.

Does The Uneekor EYE XR Need Marked Balls or Clubs?

The quick answer: No. A couple of the most welcome upgrades here are AI Club Tracking and markerless balls.

To read club data, Uneekor is now using AI Club Tracking without stickers or markings on the clubs. And for all the ball snobs out there, feel free to use your ball of choice as the EYE XR now uses Uneekor’s Dimple Optix technology to read ball data.

The system picks up important data like face angle, path, ball speed and spin, and other key metrics without needing anything extra on your ball or club. If you’ve used other launch monitors that rely on stickers or marked balls, this is a solid quality-of-life improvement.

Powering The Uneekor EYE XR

The EYE XR uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), which means one cable handles both power and data.

That might not sound all that exciting, but it makes installation cleaner and easier - especially in a home setup where cable management matters. Not having to install an outlet near the launch monitor, or run a long power cable to the nearest outlet, is a gamechanger.

Does The Uneekor EYE XR Come With Video Replay?

Don’t worry, with the new unit, Uneekor didn’t get rid of their awesome camera-based features. Club Optix gives you a slow-mo look at your club at impact. It’s useful for checking strike location and face orientation in real time.

Connect some of Uneekor’s Swing Optix cameras, or a set of swing cameras from Carl’s Place, to get full body swing replay in Uneekor View software.

Final Take

The EYE XR isn’t trying to reinvent launch monitors - it’s just doing it better. Cleaner install, easier use, and fewer things to mess with. If you want something rear-mounted, accurate, and low-maintenance, this is one of the more practical options out there.

The EYE XR is not for you if you need something portable, or you love club stickers (that would be odd). But if you're setting up a more permanent sim space and want reliable performance with minimal fuss, the EYE XR checks a lot of boxes.
