Reviewing the BenQ TK710STi golf simulator projector

The BenQ TK700STi 4K golf simulator projector has been a hit (pun intended) for a while now in the indoor golf industry. BenQ saw that and raised the bar even higher, creating an even better and still affordable version: the BenQ TK710STi golf simulator projector.

BenQ TK710STi Specs

The TK710STi has a lot of similarities to the TK700STi, but also includes a few important improvements.

It has 3200 lumens, which is a 200-lumen improvement over the TK700STi. The lumen count is still middle-of-the-road, though, as some projectors have higher lumens and some have lower.

However, it does come natively with 4K UHD resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) at an extremely affordable price.

BenQ upgraded the light source from lamp with the TK700STi to laser with the TK710STi. That’s important because it means it should produce a better picture, and the life of that light source will last much longer (20,000 hours for the TK710STi vs. 4,000 hours on normal in the TK700STi). Longer lasting light source means less maintenance on your end.

The throw ratio was shortened from 0.9-1.08 to 0.69-0.83, which is a sweet spot for golf simulator setups. It also has 3D, vertical, horizontal and rotation keystone, which provides for greater mounting flexibility.

Pros Of The BenQ TK710STi For Golf Simulators

Shorter Throw Ratio

The TK710STi has a shorter throw ratio than its sibling, the TK700STi, making it an excellent choice for tighter spaces.

This allows you to place the projector closer to the screen without sacrificing image size, which is perfect for smaller golf simulation setups where space is a premium.

Laser Light Source

Unlike traditional lamp-based projectors, the TK710STi uses a laser light source. This results in a longer projector lifespan, reducing maintenance and replacement costs over time.

Additionally, laser projectors typically offer brighter and more vibrant images, enhancing the visual experience of your golf simulation.

Low Input Lag

Input lag can significantly impact the performance of simulation software, causing delays between your actions and the on-screen response.

The TK710STi boasts low input lag, ensuring smooth, responsive gameplay that closely mimics the feel of a real golf game. This is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and enjoyment of the simulation experience.

Cons Of The BenQ TK710STi For Golf Simulators

Brightness Limitations

OK, we’re admittedly getting a bit picky here. While the TK710STi offers 3,200 lumens, which is respectable, it might fall short in environments with substantial ambient light.

To achieve the best image quality, you may need to control the lighting in your golf sim area or use additional measures like blackout curtains to reduce ambient light interference.

Lack of Lens Shift

Lens shift is a valuable feature for flexible projector placement, allowing you to adjust the image without moving the projector. The absence of lens shift in the TK710STi means you’ll need to be more precise with your mounting position, which could be a challenge in some setups. While this feature is often reserved for higher-end models, its absence here is worth noting.

No Corner Fit Adjustment

Keystone correction helps align the image to your screen, but the lack of corner fit adjustment can be a drawback.

Corner fit allows for fine-tuning the image to perfectly match the screen’s edges, ensuring a crisp, distortion-free projection. Without this feature, you might find it harder to achieve a perfectly aligned image, especially if the projector isn’t mounted directly centered on the screen.

Conclusion

We feel BenQ knocked this one out of the park - or, should we say, into the hole.
The BenQ TK700STi was already a popular golf simulator projector for good reason. But BenQ, with the launch of the TK710STi, improved the specs in a few lacking areas. Yes, the price increased a bit, but we still find it to be a great value - you won’t find many, if any, 4K options around this price range!
