BenQ AH700ST Review: Golf Simulator Projector Install Made Easy

One of the toughest parts about setting up a golf simulator is where and how to mount your projector. With the August 2024 release of the BenQ AH700ST, that process just got significantly easier.

The BenQ AH700ST is not just about projecting images; it’s about making your setup as seamless and enjoyable as the game itself. Let’s dive into why the AH700ST is your new best friend on the virtual greens.

BenQ AH700ST Features

Effortless Installation

Forget the days of complicated projector setups. The AH700ST is designed to make installation a breeze.

With its automatic screen adjustment and one-button setup, you can be up and running in no time. The projector auto-calibrates to your screen’s aspect ratio - supporting 16:9, 16:10, 4:3 and 1:1 setups - and adapts to almost any screen size and shape. For non-standard ratios, a quick tweak via your graphic card settings is all it takes.

Whether your setup is standard or custom, the AH700ST can adjust easily from any angle, making setup more stress-free.

Quick Focus

Sharp visuals are just a button press away. The Quick Focus feature lets you fine-tune the image by pressing the Focus button on the remote. This means your golf simulation will be as crisp and clear, hopefully like your game.

Bright and Clear

Experience the vivid realism of the golf course with the AH700ST’s laser technology. BenQ’s expert color calibration ensure that grass and sand look as authentic as possible, bringing the outdoor experience right into your indoor setup.

Even in rooms with ambient light, the AH700ST should not have a problem. With 4000 lumens of brightness and 95% Rec. 709 color accuracy, this projector will not have a problem producing stunning visuals.

High contrast and vibrant colors mean that your immersive golfing environment will be both bright and detailed, no matter the lighting conditions.

Built to Last and Adapt

The AH700ST’s laser light source boasts a lifespan of up to 20,000 hours, reducing maintenance costs and keeping your projector in top shape for years.

Built to withstand tough environments, the AH700ST is dustproof with an IP5X rating and operates reliably in temperatures ranging from 32-104°F. This makes it perfect for garage setups or other challenging environments, with minimal need for regular maintenance.

Wireless Projection

Go cable-free with wireless projection. The AH700ST supports wireless projection via an optional dongle, allowing you to project from any device without the hassle of cables.

Motorized Lens

Adjusting screen size is a cinch with the motorized lens featuring a 1.2x optical zoom. You can easily adjust the screen size without having to reinstall the projector, ensuring perfect picture quality every time.

Some of the specs that stand out to us include:

  • Resolution: yes, it’s “only 1080p,” but with BenQ’s color accuracy, you might not even notice a big difference between this 1080p and a different 4K projector.
  • Throw ratio: right in the wheelhouse for perfect throw ratio to use in golf simulators
  • Corner fit: I mean, this projector kind of has to have corner fit based on how it quickly adjusts your projected image to fit your screen, but still a useful feature to have.
  • Lens shift: sadly, not available. Most projectors that have lens shift are significantly more expensive.

Conclusion

BenQ is taking the golf simulator industry more serious than just about any other projector company, and it shows, especially with the AH700ST’s easy installation features.

If you’re the type of person who is overwhelmed thinking about how you’re going to get your projected image to fit your screen perfectly, then this projector would be a great option for you.
